Editor's Statement
A. The point of all these study pieces is not to support those who bombed the World Trade Center but, rather, to understand the larger political and economic conditions out of which grows such anger and violence toward America.
B. These pieces are one-sided. The position of the Bush Administration is well known from ABC, CBS, NBC and newspapers around the country. In brief, the Bush administration presents its response to 11 Sept. as a reasonable way to end violence against Americans and against US foreign policy around the world. One the one side is democracy, freedom, and patriotism. On the other side---that of those who bombed the WTC, is evil, hatred, jealousy and mindless religious passion.
C. As Editor, I do not endorse all these study pieces; indeed, I disagree with some parts of them and I would not use the language I find in some. But American students deserve better than what they learn in class, hear on the news, find among their friends and are taught by their parents. Learn well, think deeply and act with good judgment and compassion for all peoples around the world.
