Routledge Series in Critical Criminology
Submitted by Walter DeKeseredy on Wed, 2011-07-20 18:58Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Routledge is producing a new series on critical criminology and I am the series editor. Critical criminology has gone through a number of significant changes since its birth in the early 1970s. The series includes authoritative original essays on major contemporary issues of central concern to critical criminologists around the world. Each book examines new areas of empirical and theoretical inquiry, and sets out an agenda for innovative progressive ways of thinking critically about crime, law, and social control.
These books are specifically designed to be useful resources for undergraduate and post-graduate students, researchers, and policy makers. The length should be no more than 80,000 words, including notes and references. Please contact me at walter.dekeseredy@uoit.ca if you have any questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
Cheers,
Walter DeKeseredy

Seeking an editor(s) for The Critical Criminologist Newsletter
Submitted by Mentor on Thu, 2011-01-13 09:42The Division of Critical Criminology is seeking an editor(s) for The Critical Criminologist Newsletter
The ASC’s Division of Critical Criminology is seeking an editor(s) for its newsletter, The Critical Criminologist. Job Duties: The newsletter is published and distributed to all members 3-4 times a year. The editor(s) are responsible for sending out notices to members for submissions (e.g., essays, photos, announcements, and other relevant division news), collecting, editing, and organising materials and integrating them into the newsletter. Applicants need to have access to Publisher and pdf writer programs (and good knowledge of the programs). It is a 3 year position, beginning Spring/Summer 2011. Historically there have been joint editors that have worked together and/or are at the same institution, however, given the current format of electronic pdf, one editor would be considered.
Deadline to apply is 15 March 2011.
Applications should be sent to:
Stephen Muzzatti , Chair

DCC and Springer
Submitted by Mentor on Tue, 2010-03-09 10:35Message from Dawn Rothe:
I wanted to let all of our Division members know that we have at this point renewed our contract with Springer. Springer has have offered to donate 200.00 towards book purchases for the winner of the Critical Criminologist award as well as 100.00 worth of books for the winner of the graduate student paper awards. Additionally, given the overwhelming DCC member vote to support a request for the inclusion of Springer's recognition of the Division's choice of editor and terms of service, Springer has included terms of editorial ship for one term of 3 years with a possible extension of one additional term (not to exceed 6 years). While this is a compromise from the 3/2 we voted on, it is a major accomplishment and a minor compromise given the overall situation. Additionally, as has been pointed out, a 3/3 is a common practice with other Divisions as well as ASC main journals.
